Vegetables may not be everyone’s first food of choice, but they are incredibly good for the body. They are packed with nutrients that are ideal for weight loss, healthy bodily functions and preventing diseases amongst many other health benefits. Here are five that you should definitely incorporate in your every-day diet.

Spinach
When your mother told you to eat your greens, she wasn’t wrong. Spinach tops the list due to it being highly nutrient-dense. Merely one cup constitutes 16% of the daily value for vitamin A, while filling the entire required amount for vitamin K, all while providing just 7 calories. The antioxidants it contains lowers the chance of heart diseases, high blood pressure along with breast cancer.

Carrots
It is widely known that carrots improve vision due to them being a rich source of vitamin A. But did you know that carrots also contain considerable fiber and potassium as well? This will help in strengthening your digestive system and regulating fluids, muscles and blood pressure.

Broccoli
Broccoli is packed with nutrients such as vitamin C, A and K which boost immunity and eye health. One significant advantage is that this vegetable is a source of sulforaphane, a chemical which prevents many cancers. It is also great for the skin, lowering dryness and wrinkles due to a substance called lutein.

Garlic
Not only does garlic provide a delicious flavor, but it is a heavily nutrient-rich vegetable. Its main compound called allicin plays a role in improving blood sugar and resulting heart health. A study revealed that people who used garlic regularly over the span of 3 months had improved belly fat and heart conditions. It also lowers cholesterol levels and prevents the likelihood of type 2 diabetes

Kale
Kale is known for its high quantities of potassium, calcium and copper, alongside vitamins A, B, C and K. Vitamin K in particular is wonderful for blood-clotting and strengthening bones. Only a half cup provides more than 4 times the recommended amount. Kale is also filled with antioxidants that protect against cancers, alongside contributes to lower blood sugar and controlling diabetes.
