Benefits of a Morning Stretch

Here’s a quick question. Have you ever woken up from an amazing night’s rest and stepped out of bed ready to conquer the world but all of a sudden your body just feels stiff? Regardless of how well you have slept, your body is bound to feel a bit stiff from time to time. This is simply because when you sleep at night you might end up sleeping in one position for the entire night. That’s eight hours where your body doesn’t move. This then causes you to become stiff once you do start to move around. Here is where stretching comes in. There are some great benefits you can experience from a good morning stretch.

 

When you wake up in the morning you really want to be able to go about your day and do everything you have planned. With that said, a small muscle cramp can really put a damper on your day. So much so that you might just end up right back in bed instead of going about your day. You can really try to avoid this by getting your body loose. The best way to get your body loose would be to stretch as soon as you step out of bed. Your muscles need to get stretched out a bit because you have been sleeping for so long.

While stretching you give your body the time it needs to get ready for the day. Yes, you might be ready mentally but that doesn’t mean your body is. Now don’t worry, you won’t need to do a full-body workout, no not at all. All you need are a few simple stretches that can take you around 5 minutes max. There are in fact a few stretches you can do while you make your morning coffee. Better yet, you can do a few stretches while doing your morning routine. This will actually help your body warm up much faster.
