It has been some time since the last time we covered an award show red carpet, and I must admit – I missed it. And today, the event in question is the 2021 MTV VMAs. The Grammys may be music’s biggest night, but when it comes to bold, boundary-pushing fashion moments, the VMAs are the place to go. The VMA award show is famous for its scandalous style statements, and the looks on Sunday night’s red carpet at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center lived up to the expectations. So, without further ado, here are some of the best-dressed celebrities from the 2021 VMAs:

‘Best New Artist’ winner, Olivia Rodrigo, made her debut at the award show in a stunning look. Rodrigo wore a strapless coral Atelier Versace gown with a purple tulle overlay and short train. The dress hails from the luxury label’s Spring 2001 couture collection (making it older than Rodrigo herself). The Drivers License songstress accessorized the look with matching magenta butterfly dangle earrings and wore her hair in loose waves. Olivia Rodrigo, Good 4 u!

The VMA’s are a great place to camp it up, and Kacey Musgraves proved that at this year’s red carpet. The Star Crossed singer rocked a total runway look which consisted of the satin, purple draped mini dress, and red leather gloves from the Valentino Fall 2021 Haute Couture collection. The singer-songwriter also wore classic hair and makeup and a giant purple feather headdress, also from Valentino. She completed her look with Schutz Ariella sandals.

The Cinderella star fittingly went for a gown that looked straight out of a fairytale. Cabello walked the red carpet in a pink and red strapless gown by designer Alexis Mabille, which featured a corset-style hot pink top with an attached scarlet red flared skirt. An oversized satin bow in red and pink hung around her waist. Rumor has it photographers loved her look so much, they screamed: “Don’t Go Yet!”

Normani didn’t come to play, showing her Wild Side on the VMAs’ red carpet. The singer hit the red carpet wearing a white faux leather set by Patrycja Pagas. Her ensemble featured a cropped jacket with bunched long sleeves and a sharp flared collar, as well as a cutout bodice and miniskirt. The look was paired with Djula hoop earrings and rings for added glamour. As for footwear, Normani opted for a matching pair of white Christian Louboutin pumps.
Madison Beer

Singer Madison Beer, who was nominated for Push Performance of the Year, showed up on the red carpet in an 18-year-old dress from Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring 2003 collection. The same dress was previously worn by Beyoncé to a taping of the David Letterman show that year. The rare designer piece is composed out of panels of rose pink silk and leather and a corset detailing throughout. Beer matched the dress with a pair of metallic heeled sandals and a soft pink lip.
Megan Fox

The VMAs are the place to dare and push the boundaries, and that is exactly what Megan Fox did. Fox hit the carpet with her boyfriend, rapper Machine Gun Kelly, who also performed at the award show. The Jennifer’s Body actress wore a naked, completely sheer custom Mugler midi dress with subtle shimmery embroidery, worn with an embellished thong underneath. Fox accessorized her look with Lorraine Schwartz earrings and Jimmy Choo heels.
Lil Nas X

Lil Nas X, who in recent years has become one of the biggest stars in music, was also one of the biggest stunners on the red carpet on Sunday. The ‘Best Video’ recipient wore a custom lilac Atelier Versace look, styled by longtime stylist Hodo Musa. The off-the-shoulder design was sprinkled with crystals and featured a sweeping train. The young rapper completed his look with a curly mullet.
