For most people, if not all, Beyoncé’s lifestyle is unattainable. From the clothes she wears to the body she’s built, it can seem as if the iconic entertainer is on a whole other level of life. However, Beyoncé, who recently revealed to British Vogue that she wants to “slow down and shed stressful things from [her] life,” is just trying to take care of herself like the rest of us. In the ads for her new line of Adidas x Ivy Park gear, The artist reflected on her experience in pandemic lockdown this year over a dreamlike visual collage of poppy fields and workout routines. In the video, Beyonce also revealed one detail about how she has chosen to center herself amid this difficult year – spending five minutes daily by herself in the bath.
“This year, it was the first time in my life I’ve been so still,” she explains in the ad. “When you have nowhere to go, what do you do? I tried to make sure I got five minutes, by myself, in the bathtub every day,” Beyonce says. That’s right, Beyonce, the woman that seems completely unreliable to anything that happens in our lives, has been embracing a little self-care and thinks we all should do the same. And if you think that it is easy for the global superstar mother of three to sneak in some “me” time – you are terribly mistaken. Knowles- Carter says it’s been “difficult” to stick to her daily routine – brief as it is – because her kids always need her.
I have written in the past on the importance of some “me” time, on taking some time off to focus on one’s self. And having Beyonce on my side is more than I could have ever asked. We all need time for ourselves – to take a few minutes to restart. See, if one of, if not the most, hardest woman in the entertainment industry can find some time to herself, that means there’s probably hope for the rest of us as well.
