Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you wake up every morning, look at yourself in the mirror, and love what you see to pieces, inside and out? Well, unfortunately, self love is not always that simple. Some days are harder than others to find the confidence within ourselves and the compassion towards ourselves.
For those rough days, there are some ways to love yourself that will make accepting who you are, and the skin you’re in a whole lot more possible. Self-love, after all is a journey, and is a work in progress for all of us. It’s not a destination, there is no end to it. We need to invest in ourselves each and every single day.
It’s important to avoid spending spending too much time in front of the mirror, looking at ourselves. Were all so hyper-focused on our weight and on other small insignificant details of our appearance. But there is nothing good that can come out of over-analyzing a part of our body in the mirror. Take a step back, and try to understand the role that your emotions are playing in how you feel about the way you look.
It can also be helpful to have a mantra that you can fall back on. Replace all the negative thoughts with more positive ones. It doesn’t have to be something extreme even, but at least something that can help you move in the right direction.
You should also try to surround yourself with people who bring you up, and avoid wasting your precious time with people who do just the opposite. True friends will show you that they support you, think you are wonderful, that they love you, and are happy for you.
And please, just, please, take a break from social media once in a while. It does not show people’s real lives, but rather only their most fabulous, filtered moments that they want you to see.
