There is always that moment after a first date in which you find yourself wondering – how did the date go? Of course, you know your own feelings regarding how the date went, but sometimes, it can be difficult to try and assume how the date went from the other person’s perspective. I remember thione date I had back in high school. It was with a boy I liked a lot, and when he didn’t kiss me at the end of the day, I didn’t know what to think. Although I felt the date went well, that detail got me to question how good it really was. So, here are a few tips to help you estimate how your date went.
If They Get Distracted Easily
No matter if it’s your first date to two years into your relationship, you always want to feel the person you’re with is paying attention to you. Though the more time you spend with someone, the more comfortable you may become with being on their phone while together, if you’re on a first date, having someone easily distracted or constantly checking their phone is not a good sign of how the date is going. Your date shouldn’t find more interest in what’s going on around them than in you.
If You Made Future Plans
Solidifying plans for date number two is one of the most obvious signs a first date went well. In the past, one of the biggest stressors after a first date was trying to figure out who will call who first. Now, however, it’s a bit different. These days, it’s more common to get a text that same night or first thing in the morning. So, if you haven’t experienced either one of these over the course of the next day post date – you may not get one at all.
If Your Conversation Grew Doll
When you’re meeting someone for a first date, you usually have plenty of ground to cover for conversation. Though some quiet moments are totally normal, spending more time staring down at your plate or phone than talking to the person in front of you is a bad sign. On a good first date, you’ll feel like you had a flowing conversation in which you both spoke equally. On a successful first date, you’ll feel the other person is genuinely interested in what you were telling them.
If The Date Went Longer Than Expected
One of the major signs a first date went well is when the date lasts longer than either of you planned. No one is going to drag out a bad date, which means that if you’re an hour in and your date is planning which bar the two of you should go to after dinner, they’re probably enjoying themselves. If you felt like you could have stayed on the date way more time, and that time you did have just wasn’t enough, you had a great first date.
Watch Their Body Language
Paying attention to someone’s body language can tell you a lot about them. From the way that they stand to the way that they fold their arms, you can tell whether or not a person is comfortable around you. And, in the case of first dates, body language can be a good indicator of whether you two will see one another again or not. See, a flowing conversation is great, but it isn’t enough. It’s also important for two people on a first date to have non-verbal communication. If you find yourself not shying away from physical contact or making eye contact with each other – it’s a good sign that your date is going well.
