How To Wear Any Dress

Has there ever been an occasion where you thought a dress would look perfect? Maybe the event is the wedding of a close friend or the birthday party of an office colleague. But while you’re out shopping for the perfect dress, you realize you don’t know how to style it for the correct occasion. After finding the right dress, you notice that the dress’ hemline is too high to be considered appropriate, or the neckline is too low to wear to a family event. It’s easy to panic when this happens, but don’t fret, because there’s a way to style every outfit for the right occasion.

If you’re looking for a dress with long sleeves due to the cold outside, but you only found a sleeveless piece, here are some edits you could make to it. Rather than not purchasing it, it would be a good idea to pair it with a long-sleeve, tight-fitting shirt underneath. So if you have a sleeveless black dress, a white ribbed shirt would match very well underneath it. If you don’t like the sound of that, consider pairing it with a black cropped cardigan that reaches around your waist. If you leave it unbuttoned, the attention will still be on the dress, while it remains comfortable for you.

Similarly, if you’re looking for a dress with the right length, and a good balance between fashion and modesty, but you like a dress that rides too high, don’t worry. Consider getting a good pair of stockings, however, choose one that is thicker, so that it doesn’t look too sheer, and can pass off as a pair of tights. Another solution is that, if the dress isn’t too flared from the bottom, you could consider wearing a longer skirt over it. No one will ever notice and instead will admire how the volume below your hips gives you an hourglass figure.
