Is Silence Normal In A Relationship?

Are you and your partner living together? Have you been dating for longer than three years? Do you both perhaps work from home? Well if you have answered yes to all those questions, then you have probably noticed that when it’s time to call it a night, you are both on your phones and it’s completely silent. Now, this might have you panicking and wondering if there is something wrong in your relationship. But in most cases, you truly have nothing to worry about. Being content with your partner is an amazing place to be in a relationship. However, there are a few things you can do to get the “noise” back into your relationship without forcing it.

Before we get into how to solve the silence in your relationship, let’s discuss why it happens. Knowing why you are experiencing some silence will help you better understand why it’s happening and if it’s something you should worry about. With that said many couples go through something that feels like silence. It isn’t really considered silence because you do in fact speak to your partner throughout the day. The silence you are referencing probably only happens at the end of the day when you are in bed cooling down. This is completely normal and expected. However, if you and your partner don’t speak at all, well then you have bigger issues to worry about.

So you started noticing that you have complete silence between your partner and yourself when you guys get into bed. Now you already know that that’s completely normal so you have nothing to worry about. With that said, if you are looking to get rid of the silence, there are a few things you can do. The first thing would be to move the tv out of your bedroom, you can always watch tv in the family room. Next, you need to address cell phones. Cell phones are big distractions so you can actually take some time away from your phones.
