Especially now, when many are at quarantine, people are looking for something casual and yet elegant. And that is exactly what the Polo shirt provides. The shirt, which combines elements of both elegance and sporty, is a perfect fit for leisure, but also work. Although more naturally associated with the male wardrobe, in recent seasons the Polo shirt has taken a surprise shift, becoming a favorite among female influencers and celebrities.
The pique fabric, familiar collar, and the front buttons are still the shirt’s main elements. However, as the Polo’s status grows, small twists that give it a much more feminine significance also start to emerge, such as a total waiver of the buttons or a cleavage. After starting to gain popularity during the winter, the short-sleeved version of the Polo shirt appears to be the standout choice for this spring. Fashion brands such as Prada, Miu Miu, and Gucci are jumping in on the up and coming trend, placing it at the front of the fashion industry.

Many believe that the Polo shirt’s comeback stems from a vintage angle, not only because of its sporty look but also as a part of the big trend of “ugly” fashion, which also includes the clumsy “dad snickers.” Unlike other trendy and challenging items, the polo shirts can be adopted to your wardrobe with relative ease. It can work well with tailored skirts or with ragged and loose baggy jeans.
So, what do you think of this trend? Are you onboard? Or will you sit this one down?
