After much anticipation and tease, Rihanna finally announced the launch of Fenty’s first fragrance. Fenty Eau de Parfum, priced at $120, dropped on August 10 on the Fenty Beauty site and immediately sold out. But, don’t worry, you can enter the site and get notified of when it’s coming back in stock. “That’s the thing I love the most: it’s an experience, it’s a memory, encapsulated into a fragrance,” says Rihanna about the perfume. “One smell, you’ll never forget it.” She traveled to Grasse, France, where she worked with LVMH Master Perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletru to create a sexy and warm scent. The notes are magnolia, musk, tangerine, blueberry, Bulgarian rose absolute, geranium, and patchouli. Unlike so many other celebrity scents, Fenty’s fragrance doesn’t smell sticky-sweet or overtly floral. It’s a bold, elevated scent.

The fragrance is housed in an amber-brown glass bottle that was designed to fit perfectly in Rihanna’s palm. “I wanted a rich color that really represented all genders from across all walks of life. Brown is my favorite color. Brown is who I am. Brown is what I come from. If I’m going to make a fragrance that represents me, even the body language of the bottle needs to marry that,” Rihanna said. This isn’t Rihanna’s first venture into the fragrance realm, though it is the first for Fenty. Rihanna had a collection of 11 perfumes with fragrance house Parlux, the first of which was released in 2010.
