Selena Gomez was covered multiple times on this site in different connotations. But, despite that, there was a common theme in all of them – Gomez was always named as a rule model. A large part of it is the way Gomez keeps rising after all the obstacles life keeps throwing in her direction. About two years ago, Gomez went through a difficult time and disappeared from the public’s eye. Since then, she has gradually made her way back – first to social media, and then to cultural and fashionable work as well. Now, after the release of her hugely successful third album, and more recently a new hit with the K-pop group, Blackpink – there is no doubt Gomez appears to be healthier and more wholesome than ever, gracing the cover of the beauty magazine, Allure.
In the interview, the 28-year-old superstar, who recently launched a cosmetics and beauty brand, discussed the journey she made reaching the place in which she is at right now, after taking back control over her life. She rehashes, for example, the pressure that accompanied the promotion of her second album, when she was 23 and required to launch a more daring and mature image. “I just did things that weren’t really me,” she said. And continued: “There was pressure to seem more adult on my album, Revival. [I felt] the need to show skin… I really don’t think I was [that] person.”
