Taylor Swift Ventures Into Fashion

Taylor Swift is extending her long list of titles, stepping into the fashion game. Swift released her highly anticipated album, Lover, on Friday, August 23. As part of the release, Swift teamed up with British designer, Stella McCartney, to create a collection of ready-to-wear and accessories inspired by the album.

In an interview with Vogue, Swift revealed that the partnership came about after McCartney and Swift met at one of Swift’s concerts in London. Swift said: “When I started spending more time in London, Stella and I would go on walks, have cocktails, and talk about life. So when it came time to write this album, I name-checked her in one of my songs, and when I played her the album, I said, ‘Should we do something?’”

McCartney also jumped at the opportunity to collaborate with Swift, telling Vogue: “I couldn’t believe that my name is in a Taylor Swift song (what?!?) and after Taylor played me the entire album it gave me such incredible inspiration for the collaboration and it really revolved around the music. When Taylor asked me, or even thought to come and do this with me, what I love is how we really complement each other in what we generate creatively together.”

Swift posted the entire look book for the collaboration on her site last Tuesday, revealing the collection of rainbow and tie-dye band t-shirts, sweaters, hats, and bags. The collection featured lyrics from the Lover album, or even a photo of Swift’s cat, Benjamin Button. The collection matches Swift’s aesthetics during this era, which was pastel-hued and filled with whimsy. It also continues McCartney’s commitment to sustainability, as all the pieces were created with eco-friendly materials.

I must admit that I loved the collection. I think it manages to capture perfectly the vibe of the Lover. I think Swift and McCartney did a remarkable job. I cannot wait to see Swift extend her experience in fashion!
