Animal products like meat, poultry, fish, and dairy provide high-quality proteins with all nine essential amino acids needed by humans. Meat such as beef or pork is an excellent source of iron along with other minerals like zinc and selenium which are important for energy production and immune system function. Fish also contains omega-3 fatty acids which have been linked to improved heart health as well as brain development in infants when consumed during pregnancy. Dairy products like milk or yogurt contain calcium which helps promote strong bones while eggs offer a rich source of vitamins A & B12 plus lutein & zeaxanthin which are beneficial for eye health.

Plant-based proteins provide essential nutrients like fiber, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Legumes such as lentils and beans are a great source of protein with high levels of folate, magnesium, and potassium. Nuts and seeds are also good sources of protein with many varieties being packed full of healthy fats, vitamins, and minerals. Whole grains like oats, quinoa, and barley are packed with fiber and protein as well as other essential nutrients such as magnesium and zinc. Some vegetables like spinach and sweet potatoes contain a surprisingly high amount of protein making them great for adding to salads or side dishes
