Are you someone who tends to make sure that everyone you love is okay but then by the end of it you just feel drained? Well if you are then you probably feel that way because you aren’t putting yourself first. Don’t worry though, you aren’t the only person who feels that way or who goes through it. It’s human nature to want to ensure the happiness of those you love before your own. Now yes this might be considered normal but so is taking care of yourself. You will come to a point where you don’t have anything more of yourself to give and you really don’t want to get to this point. That’s why it will be beneficial for you and your loved ones if you put yourself first.
Work, family, and other responsibilities can keep you really busy and that’s okay. You might even be someone who thrives in busy environments. But that doesn’t mean you should put yourself or your needs last. With that said, many people don’t actually know how to put themselves first. Yes, you ensure that your bills are paid and that you have a meal to eat every day but are you happy? That’s the question you should ask yourself. You may not even know it but you can be unhappy while fulfilling your duties. You can also go ahead and ask yourself if you are at peace.

If your answers are no then it is time for you to put yourself first. Now in the beginning it might feel a bit strange or even awkward but the more you practice the better you will get at it. Don’t worry, putting yourself first doesn’t require much. Start off small by simply saying no to things. If you are someone who says no to things then this might seem a bit harsh but as time goes on you will notice that you feel lighter, almost as if the world isn’t sitting on your shoulders. Net you can start doing things that bring you joy and peace. This will actually be any of your hobbies such as reading in your free time.
